Readers Are Leaders has not yet delivered a programme year, so there are no results to report. What we can publish now is the model, the targets, the measurement framework and the reporting structure — and then publish results against them.

A different path.

We found another door.

A young person was facing the possibility of incarceration. The path in front of them appeared to be a single one.

Instead of accepting that as the only available outcome, an alternative was sought. Serenity House is described in the supplied documentation as a THOR-approved facility providing structure, accountability, housing and reentry support. The young person received placement approval.

That is the whole of what we can tell you, and we will not tell you more. Their identity is theirs. What matters is the principle it demonstrates: a young person’s worst decision does not have to become the limit of their future.

What this story does and does not say

Literacy and youth leadership are the centre of this organization, and they stay the centre. This story is here because the same commitment runs underneath both: when a young person’s options narrow, somebody should be looking for another door. Sometimes that door is a book. Sometimes it is a placement, an advocate, or a person who will not accept that the first answer is the only answer.

  • Placement approval is not a guarantee of any final legal outcome.
  • Readers Are Leaders does not operate a formal restorative-justice program.
  • No participant statement is reproduced, because none is documented.

The young person’s identity is withheld completely and permanently. No name, no photograph, no identifying circumstance appears anywhere on this site or in any material we publish.
